I’m in my last week of school for the semester, and that is CRAZY TOWN USA. I cannot fathom that december is right around the corner and the year is almost up!
I’m really trying to lean into the long nights and make them as cozy as possible. we have quite a few candlesticks on our coffee table that bring such a nice light to the living room. and I have a never ending list of tv shows and movies to watch, so i’m really looking forward to having an excuse for slowing down social things and staying in at night. i’m also hoping to get some bath bombs for christmas to make my baths a little more luxurious. maybe this is a placebo effect to not have seasonal depression but idk, its kinda fun and im enjoying it. so i’m hoping that sticks through until march
movies: this week was full of movies to be honest
I FINALLY watched 10 Things I Hate About You, I had never watched it all the way through before, I think i’ve only ever gotten about 20 minutes in for some reason or another. it was so lovely. makes me want to go down a Heath Ledger deep dive, kinda spooky he passed away when he was only 28, and thats my age next year…
also watched a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and a Charlie Brown Christmas. both great watches
we watched The Holiday, and I know its been said once or twice before, but damn, Jude Law has got it going on in this movie
and maybe most importantly, I watched Frozen II this weekend. let me tell you, that movie is BEAUTIFUL. I think it really should be noted that the movie is a sequel and it does build off of some plot points from the first one, but it should be viewed with a lens SEPARATE from Frozen. like lets separate the two, and then I feel like people would be able to see the beauty behind it a lot more.
in my mind: i’ve been wanting to read more of The Atlantic articles, but I didn’t want to pay $80 a year for a subscription to do so… however, my lovely and super smart friend Emma reminded me that if I have the Apple News+ you have access to SO MANY MAGAZINES AND ARTICLES. soooo i’m super glad I learned about that. that being said, I read a really nice article about Snoopy and a possible reason why he is making such a comeback these days
in my stomach: opted out of the classic thanksgiving meal for a trip to Rhode Island with friends; we make a feast of pasta and pizza and garlic knots and ovaltine and mini pies from Walmart. it was perfect. I did miss stuffing because man I love that stuff, but I can always make it on my own.
I’m currently trying to come up with things I want for Christmas from family members and I’m having the hardest time. now don’t take that as I don’t want anything, I always have a never ending list of wants and desires. but for some reason when it comes down to asking for gifts, I have a very hard time doing so. however, I LOVE gift giving and i’ve been told that I’m a good gift giver- I credit that ability with always online window shopping and spending a lot of time on pinterest, etsy, and tiktok. but I have come up with some gifting items that could come in handy for anyone trying to come up with gifts to bring for a gift exchange or a white elephant or whatever. okay lets get into it shall we:
beauty items- a really nice scalp scrub (i’ll probably ask for this tbh), some dae hair products (I have this mask and love it), a scalp scrubber (I also think i’ll ask for this), hair serum- I really like it, roller perfumes, lip balms, and body oil (I also asked for this)
cozy time- a sweat set, a cute jelly cat (i’m OBSESSED with them), ruffle socks, cute mug, fun candles and matches, trinket dish
accessories- letter necklace (I have one of their necklaces and really like it), monogram or zodiac clutch, puzzles or boardgames, kindle cover
home items- cook books, beautiful glassware, cake stands, ceramic spoons, bedside carafe, vases, plant pot, watering bell
a lot of these links are from anthropologie or etsy, I find that anthropologie is a great place to start for ideas and then I like to go to etsy or target or somewhere more in my price range to actually purchase said items. happy shopping!!
tiktok: the sweetest compliment; this is Barbie’s dream house
pinterest: cute dogs
instagram: constantly me; they would make me buckle to my knees; trying to get through the rest of the semester and finals
I hope you blast some christmas music and start making your homes feel so special and a place that can bring you joy for the upcoming season!!!
until next week
xoxo,
your big sis, kaitlynn
