hello lovelies!!
I hope you have had a great week, i’m not going to lie, this past week felt incredibly long! I think part of that has to do with me being done with school and in finals, so my schedule is off, but also I wasnt at home much for some reasons. nonetheless I am glad its a new week!
utilizing libraries more often. I unfortunately only really do this when I am studying for finals because I dont have a desk at home. but something about going to a library (and I know i’m very lucky because I get to go to the BEAUTIFUL flagship for the new york public library) makes studying and being proactive much more motivating. I want to be better at having a “third space” and I think a library might be a good place for that.
movies: I watched love actually this week with my friend Kayla, it was a very sweet film, but not my absolute fav for christmas movies. but I do enjoy all the story lines. a filming of waitress the musical was released for one week only and we were able to see it friday night. it was so lovely to listen to sara bareilles, her voice is incredible. and I also saw the boy and the heron with bjørn, its the newest studio ghibli/miyazaki film and it was AMAZING. like wow wow wow, one of my new favs of ghibli movies. I highly recommend seeing it in theaters while you can, probably one of the only times you’ll see a new miyazaki movie in theaters as he is probably very much finished officially with movies, hes very old, but man he can make an amazing film.
music: sabrina carpenter, our polly pocket pop princess, came out with a christmas EP and I love it. she came out with nonsense christmas last year and that was so fun, so i’m glad that she has a full little EP now as well. and this music video for santa doesn’t know you like i do, is very fun
in my mind: I am OBSESSED with this performance olivia rodrigo did at SNL this past weekend. I love the theatrics and the drama, and I just love this song so much so i’m glad to see this is what she performed. it makes me so excited to see her next year.
in my stomach: a diner at 1 am after looking at some of the christmas trees around the city. bjørn and I were hungry so we stopped by a diner and it was truly SO. MUCH. FUN. but the thing is, it was a moment that was pretty mundane and just nothing super special, like we were only going to a diner, but the fact that we went at 1 am and had a good time together, it made me very emotional and appreciative of my relationship with bjørn and our ability to enjoy one another’s company and be each other’s best friends, idk
but the mozzarella sticks were pretty damn good. I did try an egg cream, which is a new york classic apparently, and not gonna lie, it was kinda weird
I need to get into the holiday and christmas spirit but gosh darn it, its hard for me this year
I think this is for a plethora of reasons: i’m in the middle of finals, its hard to think about jesus without thinking about my very mixed feelings of faith and beliefs I have been going through this year, its hard to think about jesus without thinking about bethlehem and then everything going on in the middle east, planning out my winter break has been very mentally exhausting and a huge emotional toll and i dont even want to go home at this point because there is too much bouncing around when it comes to divorced families as a “single” adult
I was telling alyssa that I feel like one of the adults in a christmas movie where they are like “the magic of christmas goes away as you get older” or “the magic of christmas just isnt the same anymore” and wowie do I want to snap out of it!!! I think I will once i’m done with finals, which will be this week !!!
also ITS TOO WARM IN NEW YORK FOR IT TO BE MID DECEMBER
^^ this is actually a big factor to it for me as well. I want to feel chilly right now!!
