hi hi hi, can we believe that it is finally february?!? I felt like january was the longest month ever!
it has been sunny the past couple of days in new york and I love it so much. alyssa and I had our best friends in town and we were able to explore the city with them; it was so fun to see a broadway show, eat yummy food, walk around a TON, hang out and catch up, and we even went to the one world observatory. the view is STUNNING
going to a place where you can appreciate where you live. whether this be a walk in a really cute neighborhood, or a local restaurant, or take a scenic drive, or if you are in new york, go on top of a roof or observation tower to see the city from above. something about that is so special
movies: since we had friends in town my movie count was significantly lower than usual. but I still managed to squeeze in two movies. the first was two weeks notice with our friends, we had to watch a new york movie. and then for movie church, since it is black history month, the second movie i watched this week was waiting to exhale with angela bassett from the 90’s, she really did that thing
podcasts: I really like the way that jay shetty interviews people and this interview with lori gottlieb was so good. shes a therapist that wrote the book “you should probably talk to someone” and I just bought her journal that works through therapy practices she teaches, i’m excited to start using it.
music: the queen herself, taylor swift, is making sure I get back into my music grind by releasing an album in april. until then i’m counting down the days for the new lizzy mcalpine song next week, ooh I also think kacey musgraves is coming out with a new album somewhat soon !!
BUT for now, I have been LOVING the song OMG by Suki Waterhouse and the song super graphic ultra modern girl by Chappell Ronan
in my mind: I watched this silly little video of Barry Keoghan reading the words to blank space and his irish accent is darling
still working through my pile of books, I need to finish rum punch in a week, so that is my #1 priority
in my stomach: honey butter pancakes and a breakfast burrito from the golden diner. fresh bagels from pop up bagels ♡ I cant wait until there is a location on the UWS
this week I had the really cool opportunity to sit for an evening dubbed as portrait night. a group of local artists get together every other week and host a portrait night where someone, usually a friend of one of the artists, sits for them for 3 hours and the artists make a portrait of them in that time frame. it is something that I have wanted to be invited to since I moved to new york. each month I would see these beautiful paintings of people and thought “wow I want to do that” but part of me also didn’t wan to sit for a painting because I didnt always love the way I looked. but like I was writing about a week or two ago, I have been working really really hard on loving my body and growing more compassionate to my self. and I feel like I was finally at a place where I really truly wanted to be painted at portrait night, and to my highest honor I was invited to sit for it. I have SO MUCH RESPECT for people that model for periods of time longer than three hours because holy cow I was so sore from just that
tiktok: miley cyrus looked SO HOT performing at the grammys
pinterest: banana boots
instagram: same carrie same; i love the aristocats- soooo cozy; one day I will truly appreciate my softness
I hope you all have a great week! hopefully you see some movies, eat some good food, and maybe even attend a galentines party or two ♡
xoxo,
your big sis, kaitlynn
