hi hi hi sisters ♡
so lets just all pretend that today is monday and this was sent out on time and I wasnt actually a day late because I was celebrating my best friend getting married, deal?
and on that note taking the red eye from utah to new york is starting to take a toll on my body. not that i’ve ever been hungover so I don’t know what it actually feels like, but I feel hungover right now, like I have such a headache and am nauseous and I 10/10 do NOT recommend
what I am recommending though is this instagram page. I really really like the graphics they make. as simple and almost silly as they are, I love a graphic that makes you think, even if it’s just for .5 seconds. like this one
movies: you guys… I didn’t watch a SINGLE movie this week. I probably would have on my flight to utah on thursday but I was too busy throwing up a ton…
BUT on tuesday my roommates and I watched the first episode of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. its based off the movie that came out with brad pitt and angelina jolie like years ago (okay but WAIT, i just found out that alfred hitchcock also made a film back in the 50’s?!?! not a spy assassin film though… brb adding that to the watchlist) and we all really enjoyed the first episode. its an action show, so keep that in mind, but the chemistry between the two main characters is so good! we are excited to keep watching.
podcasts: I thoroughly enjoyed this episode of the ezra klein show discussing the importance of relationships, familial, romantic, platonic, and just overall community relationships. something that I am so grateful for from my childhood is how close, physically and emotionally, my sister and I were with our grandparents growing up. it has been such a blessing being so close to my grandparents, I love them so much, they are some of my favorite people on earth and I know that I am very lucky to have that relationship with them
music: kacey musgraves’ new album came out this week, and I am a BIG BIG BIG fan!!
in my mind: THESE PHOTOS make me sooooo emotional. gosh I love the sound of music
I am actually sick over this apartment in the east village. one of the most stunning homes ive seen
okay, so if you have been on social media, or even read some random news articles the past couple of weeks, you are probably somewhat area of the question “where the heck is kate middleton?!?” I don’t really care too much about the royal family at all, I can’t name any of the children, I can barely name the sons, like I just don’t really care that much. and while I don’t really care where kate middleton is, its been interesting to see how the public has reacted to her “disappearance”
which I think to an extent is fair because as we know, the royal family hasn’t been the nicest to outsiders (Princess Diana, Meghan Markle, etc.) so for a family member to not be seen by the public for quite some time should allow some cause for concern, however I think this is going overboard people
I read this very interesting atlantic article (you can access it here or here) talking about the public’s ability to easily fall into conspiracy theories and to feel like they are owed the right to know about public figure’s personal lives. don’t get me wrong, I love knowing about people’s lives, but I do think that in this day and age of social media and the ability to gain information at our fingertips at any moment of the day, we have become OBSESSED with the idea that we are owed this knowledge, and we demand to know it. that when someone stops wearing their garments (why do we care so much about other people’s underwear…) or they start drinking coffee, we immediately want to know their status within the mormon church and know their full belief system. like woof thats a lot for a random stranger on the internet to share. or when a male presenting celebrity starts to paint their fingernails or wears an outfit that is viewed as more “feminine” or plays a bi-sexual character in a tv show, the public starts to question their sexuality. and in some cases forces a celebrity to come out to the public when they weren’t ready to do so.
I think there is beauty with social media and having access to information so easily, but I do think that celebrities and other public figures deserve some privacy. does that mean that if I see timothee chalamet on the streets of new york that I wont stop him to say hello? HELL NO, i’m getting that selfie… BUT I will definitely try to leave some other celebrities alone if I see them in public- or if I start to get curious about their personal lives, I might take a step back and ask myself “will learning this information really help me in my life?”
idk just some thoughts
instagram: selena gomez is so gorgeous; the only hotdog I want; ayo is perfect she gets two; if I am EVER in germany, I will be getting a tattoo from this artist- she just did a collab with Renee Rapp, so you know shes cool
I hope you all have a great week!! I for one have two papers and a quiz this week… so I will be busy busy busy!
xoxo,
your big sis, kaitlynn
