#77: luck of the irish
recap of the best birthday celebration and my favorite bit of irish lore
hi hi hi sisters ♡ did anyone wear green today? st. patricks day has never been a fav holiday of mine, probably because its celebrated as a kid in school and only really celebrated as an adult by going out and getting drunk… which isnt really something I want to do. that being said, my aunt always makes a fully green meal for her and her family. it looks appauling sometimes but its also a cute tradition.
that being said, I am hoping that all the luck I can conjure up from the irish comes my way as I am in the midst of midterms and have the MPRE coming up next week !!
keeping the recommendations section to recommendations for different substacks that I read. I find it to be really important to support small “businesses” (that sounds odd to use here, but maybe influencers is another word I can use?) and one way I can do that is by sharing about them!
here is a really interesting article about the fantasy of journalism by
. loved this insight and reality on the hardship that journalists are facing as the consumption of news is changing !!in another life I totally could see myself as a journalist. I have always loved connecting with people and getting to know other’s stories, which is why I had a podcast for a little run. I think journalist is so powerful and inspiring. I do think know that a big part of why I wanted to be a journalist for so long was because of early 2000s romcom movies. I wanted to work for a magazine company in new york city, I watched 13 going on 30 one too many times hehe, and while i’m not quite doing what I thought, being able to be in new york is still a dream
movies: watched mission impossible 5, you guys I LOVE them so much unironically. getting all caught up before the last one comes out. for movie church we watched miss congeniality. sandra bullock is so beautiful and this movie is truly so tender. obvi has some flaws of not aging well, but for the most part, it is so tender and lovely
music: haim and chappell both came out with new singles this week. haim’s is called relationships and chappell’s is the giver, added THAT to my cuntry playlist immediately
in my mind: I hate to say it but manacled has been all consuming. every single second I have had a spare chance I have been reading it. i’ll finish it tonight. yall I cant even begin to explain my feelings for it but lets just say that i’ve thoroughly enjoyed this experience. its very dark, but because it feels so fake and not real I am able to separate myself from it a lot. I have cried a lot from it too lmao. its not a book for everyone but if it is a book for you, you might just be in for something so crazy
keeping this short because i need to get back to studying but wanted to share that this weekend we got to celebrate my roommate miranda for her 30th birthday! I am a BIG advocate for celebrating friends for everything (getting a pay raise, getting a new job, doing well on a project, EVERY birthday, etc), not just the ones that society has deemed as “worthy” of celebration (weddings, babies, engagements, etc). exciting things are happening to our friends all the time, and they need to feel loved and celebrated!
it was so fun to have the night and be surrounded by people that love and adore miranda and see them all come together for her. the vibes were immaculate and the evening was perfect. and I got to make her birthday cake for her and I am SO proud of myself

tiktok: a dog and cat pet combo is so cute
pinterest: I want nothing more than this; i’m itching for a new tattoo….
instagram: my favorite inside joke is that ayo edebiri claims to be irish and the internet totally just goes along; the only acceptable mount rushmore
okay that is all!! love you all so much! I get to go on a trip with my sister this weekend and I am so excited, but also stressed because I have to study for the MPRE while on our trip, womp womp. but oh well !!
(1) MANACLED 😭🤍 (2) the star tattoos are an absolute must. lowkey i’m tempted to steal that idea
