hi hi hi sisters ♡
I can’t believe Halloween was this past week (i’m starting a petition to have more costume themed events because new york during halloweekend is soooo wonderful) and that it is november already, but also october FLEW bye, time is nuts. but I am soooo grateful that fall is in full swing and that I got an extra hour of sleep on saturday night, even though that means the sun sets before 5 pm… cest la vie
if you have any friends that might be interested in this newsletter, send them my way
I have a chocolate chip cookie recipe to recommend to you all!! I got this recipe from a friend like over a year ago and I just got around to making it, and let me tell you, they were soooo yummy
I did a couple of things differently: first I used semi sweet chocolate chips because 1) I don’t love dark chocolate, and 2) I already had semi sweet chips; second, I baked them for like 9-10 minutes and let them sit on the tray out of the oven for a shorter amount of time; third, I recommend cooking them on the tray directly not on foil, they cook better
anyways, I hope you try them out!
movies: omg I saw Priscilla this weekend and it was soooo good. I have never seen a sofia coppola movie before, but I can’t wait to watch the rest of hers. after watching Elvis (2022) I felt really bad for the guy, but since watching Priscilla (2023) I could not care about that man less. men are awful, even the desirable Elvis….
music: did you hear that the beatles came out with a new song?!? you heard me right, the BEATLES came out with a new song. here’s how, (also a video) so after John passed away Yoko gave the boys a demo that he had written and they wanted to add to it but because technology was not the best back then they couldn’t hear John’s voice super well. fast foward to this day and age, and with a little help from a friend (AI) they were able to pull John’s vocals out of the original recording, add some guitar from George from past songs, and Paul and Ringo added to the song live, HOW TENDER!!!
in my mind: okay this isn’t *technically* my mind, but I watched it with my eyes so i’m counting it. walmart did a black friday commercial with the cast of mean girls and it is SO fun. i wish Rachel McAdams was in it, but the cameos that were, made me want to shop at walmart. my friend Rebekah works for the agency that did the commercial, so I feel cool knowing a connection hehe.
as i’m getting older i’m starting to appreciate more the art of slowing down in life, i still have a lot to learn and changes to make- i’ll probably talk about this quite a bit, but looking back at when I first moved to new york I feel like I was going 1000 miles a minute. I was working full time and doing so many activities with friends every week and studying for the LSAT and whenever a visitor would come I would drop EVERYTHING and play tour guide for them. I became EXHAUSTED, to a point where i absolutely broke down last october during my first semester of law school.
I was struggling with trying to maintain a balance between being social and doing school and trying to keep in contact with friends and I was being pulled in so many directions, I broke down on the bathroom floor of a yoga studio with an insane panic attack (lol this is right when bjørn and I started going on dates, that sweet boy has dealt with so many emotions of mine).
it has taken a year and a lot of self reflection (I think being away for the summer helped as well) to start to become more comfortable with living a slow life. my schedule this semester has also forced this lifestyle upon me as I have three weeknights of classes and I can’t hang out with friends during the week that often. i’m starting to use my sundays to reset my life and get me prepared for the upcoming week. i’m trying to create a better sleep schedule, its tough when the boyfriend has an AWFUL one, but when i’m not with him I am working hard to sleep 8 hours a night. and as terrible as it is that the sun is setting so early these days, I think winter will be a good time to continue this slower paced life. the evenings feel longer and allow me to settle down to bed.
there’s a whole lot I want to change about my daily and weekly routines, I can’t even begin to think of them all because my head will start to spin. but I want to start this weekly pattern and really maximize my time to help myself start anew each week.
tiktok: some good advice when youre feeling hopeless about the world; halloween dogs
instagram: still in shock over this costume; perfect costume; perfect pup; marathon sunday is so special
OMG also, this week Alyssa and I saw the broadway show Merrily We Roll Along, and it was SO perfect. truly one of my new favorite musicals. Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff are in it and I loved them sooooo much. it was seriously a childhood dream to see Daniel Radcliffe in the flesh, I have loved harry potter my whole life, and it felt extra special to see him on broadway. the plot of the show is beautiful and very thought provoking, also a little sad, but the chemistry between the actors was palpable and I couldn’t help but laugh and cry and enjoy every second. I didn’t want it to end. I would love to see the show again, and I hope I have the chance to do so sometime soon! but until then I will be watching youtube interviews and tiktoks of the cast and show to fill my bucket, here’s to hoping they do a cast recording of the music so I can listen to them over and over.
I hope you all have a wonderful week, you guys are the best ♡
xoxo,
your big sis, kaitlynn
